This is my final human-centered design project for RISD's Design Principles II course. Before starting the project, I spent a few weeks researching climate change, sustainability, and how it relates to consumer economy. I then applied what I learned through the research to create a product solution that addresses my areas of research.
Because of its wide accessibility in the present day, people tend to consume more music through streaming services, rather than physical media such as CDs or vinyls. An immense amount of energy is required to store and process music. Since it is an intangible part of our carbon footprint, energy consumption is one of the biggest overlooked factors contributing to climate change. As someone who streams music every day, this was an especially meaningful project for me to undertake.
